Cedar Grove Middle School believes that it is important to recognize students who demonstrate Blazer Pride. We base all of our incentives around the A B C's of Blazer Pride:

A Academics and Attendance - Students will maintain at least a 2.0 GPA each grading period.
B Behavior - Students will have less than three office referrals each grading period.
C Character - Students will demonstrate KCS monthly character traits.

Incentives Offered include:

  • Honor Roll Incentives (each semester)
  • Scholar's Luncheon (end of year)
  • Behavior and Being There (each nine week grading period)
  • Blazer Pride Awards (monthly)

Chorus
Students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to participate in Chorus. Ms. Olivia Hughes is the Choral Director and Mr. John Patrick is the Choral accompanist. Our chorus represents the musical talent within our school and demonstrates their skill through a variety of special school events and Parent Nights.

Student Council
Students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to participate in Student Council. Mrs. Christy Patrick is our Student Council Sponsor. CGMS Student Council demonstrates student leadership within our school by acknowledging civic responsibility and working with staff on school related decisions. Some of the great charities supported by our student council include: Cystic Fibrosis, Breast Cancer, American Heart Association, and the Ronald McDonald House. Other projects include working with a local nursing home, Wreaths Across America, and community Christmas caroling. CGMS Student Council members are held to high expectations: academics, attendance, behavior, and character.

Foreign Language
CGMS students have the opportunity to experience a foreign language course. Students in 7th grade participate in Spanish 1A and Students in 8th grade participate in Spanish 1B. Both of these courses are offered virtually. Students who successfully complete both Spanish 1A and Spanish 1B will receive one high school foreign language credit.

Yearbook Staff
Students who are a part of our yearbook staff collect and gather pictures of all of the great memories made throughout the school year and create a yearbook for all to enjoy. These students also complete all of the writing, layout designs, and editing for our yearbook. Mr. Patrick is our Yearbook Sponsor. We are never disappointed by their final product and will cherish the memories contained within the pages of our yearbook for many years ahead.

Drama Club
Students in the 8th grade who want to show off their acting abilities audition for Mrs. King's 8th grade Drama Club. Students practice and perform several plays throughout the school year. Performances are offered throughout the day for elementary students and middle school students; Parent Nights are held in the evening so that parents and community members can enjoy the performances as well.

Archery
CGMS offers an archery program to both CGE and CGMS students. Mr. Timothy Embrey (teacher) is our certified Archery in the Schools instructor. This has been a great program and experience for our students.
